This reminded me of something I read recently on the topic of Blue Zones:
"Dr Newman debunked the popular idea of βBlue Zonesβ as regions of exceptional longevity and healthy lifestyles. Many, if not most of the centenarians in the βBlue Zoneβ have turned out to be alive in the government records but were deceased in reality. Using extensive government data and surveys, Dr Newman showed that most of the dietary and lifestyle claims behind the so-called βBlue Zoneβ regions of high longevity are not supported by any independent data.
For example, despite vegetables and sweet potatoes being promoted as key components of the Okinawan βBlue Zoneβ diets, according to the Japanese government, Okinawans eat the least vegetables and sweet potatoes in Japan and have the highest body mass index."
My memory of visiting Okinawa is eating some very nice tacos π
I did also see a study on this recently saying that many of the Blue Zone age claims are falsified for one reason or another and are unable to provide evidence of their age. Oooooh I'll hit you up for recommendations when I head over then!
Excellent read. Really enjoyed the cultural explanation of Ikaigai (along with the fintech examples of course), which can be applied to any profession and a great reminder to continue to look for that sweet spot!
Exactly. All about the pursuit of that perfect centre which doesn't necessarily have to be done alone. A co-founder can also help with that perfect blend!
Positioning is so important, this process definitely helps with that. Great write-up!
This was great fun to read! Love the photo of the Japanese centenarians! Utterly inspiring.
Looking forward to finding out more about your work in Saudi when you can reveal more!
π Lets catch up in a few weeks and I'll be able to reveal more
